Bright Pearl Dance (BPD) and Chinese School of Andover (CSA), along with other community organizations and supporters, will be co-hosting an Andover Asian Culture & Arts Night (Andover Night) at the Andover High School Collins Center on Saturday Dec. 6, 2014.

It has long been envisioned to unify multi-forms of Chinese and Asian artistry into one platform to celebrate the richness and excellence in culture and arts within the communities we all live in, like Andover. Both CSA and BPD organizations will coordinate in bringing something exciting and unique to a night filled with highlights of Chinese dance, visual art, martial art and language art. BPD will be presenting a grand performance- “华风雅颂” with the best dance pieces produced by highly qualified faculties and extremely talented students in Andover area and BPD.

The performance is a unique album of artistic perspectives that combines different styles of Chinese dance ranging from traditional court dance to modern. Influenced by the infinite charm of Chinese art forms of poetry, painting, and Opera, every dance is specifically designed and choreographed with distinctive platform features including colorful costumes, an assortment of props and the integrated sound of music. Blended with the beauty of nature and landscapes - garden bridges with running water, exquisite flowers with enchanted butterflies, elegant jasmine with delicate scents, the performances on the stage are just like the wide variety of colorful pictures with their wonderful harmony of nature and humanity. All folk dances are intended to symbolize China’s diverse cultural heritages. From Yunan Dai dance and Xingjiang drum dance to Han’s red lantern and handkerchief dance, each performance expressly represents an event in the life of 56 ethnic groups of Chinese people.

We would like to welcome you to the night and hope you find that the show is not only entertaining, but also enriching and valuable because of its depiction of Chinese tradition and the exquisite culture of five thousand years.

We wish you all a happy and joyful night.
