CSA Chess Class - Update

Deal All,

This semester our chess teacher Steve Wu will continue to lead the chess class. Steve served as a volunteer in Franklin Elementary School Chess Club in North Andover and is a Chess Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts of America.

In addition, James Zhou, a student at Andover High with 1800 USCF (US Chess Federation) rating - the highest in town in his age group and 96th percentile among US national youth players, and who has been a long time CSA volunteer, will step up to teach the Sunday Chess class. n addition to chess, he is also involved in competitive math, for which he has achieved high results, including a top ten ranking in the Massachusetts Mathematics Olympiad.

Tom Shneer, a junior at Andover High School and possesses a USCF rating of 1550, will assist the class.

last if not the least, Michael, then at 10, has won the state championship in Spiegel Cup tournament early 2014 in the 9-11 age group, which is the most prestigious scholastic competition in Massachusetts. With his USCF in the mid 1700 he will sure bring his value to the class and share it with all the students.

The class will be instructed using USCF instruction materials and following USCF standard.

With all the local greatest surrounding the program, the class is going to be instructed with formal, competition-standard equipment such as Demonstration Board, Chess Clock, and standard chess sets for practice.

We are looking forward a very exciting year from our Chess class.
